Challenges

What steps can we take to simplify the user experience when working with Marine Printers?

How can we address simple customer service issues without requiring users to contact Marine Printers directly?

How can we effectively demonstrate that Marine Printers is a reliable, modern and established printer with excellent customer service?

Goals

Redesigning and updating their old website to reflect the brand better.

Adding an online store for specific products.

Highlighting the difference between Marine Printers and its competitors.

Research

Our research has revealed two main user groups - designers and non-designers (small business owners and their employees). These two groups have different levels of technical knowledge and priorities.

  • For designers, the most beneficial feature would be the ability to download templates and view file specifications.

  • Non-designers, on the other hand, would benefit most from easy access to a customer service telephone number and an uncomplicated FAQ section without excessive technical details.

  • Additionally, it would be inspiring for both groups to have a page displaying the printer's best work.

Design

Marine Printers will help draw attention to special promotions with the addition of a banner. Navigation has been simplified and a clear call to action established, ensuring that the "get a quote" option is always visible.

Downloadable templates for various print projects make the design procedure and communications with the printer more straightforward. The user can quickly sort through them using simple filtering options.

We decided to keep this approach on the Frequently Asked Questions page as well by tailoring the experience to two user groups.

Customers will gain a better understanding of the technical capabilities of Marine Printers through product-specific pages, while business owners and non-designers can use company-specific pages to learn how to grow their business through design and printing.

Mobile

To ensure that users have the best possible experience regardless of the device they are using, we have redesigned navigation and simplified other pages.

Visual Language

I chose to keep the same orange colour in combination with black and white imagery. To create a more contemporary feel, I updated the typography with a bold and modern headings. By adding updated iconography and button styles, Marine Printers' visual style has a more cutting edge look and appears modern.
